fruitmarket is an independent not-for-profit initiative that promotes local musicians through the personal value of tangible media to disrupt harmful music industry trends. My first and second-hand research shows that local musicians are being drowned out by masses of financial burdens and streaming algorithms that are designed to promote already-popular artists, diverting money and attention away from emerging creatives.
This project utilises the current resurgence of tangible music media to distribute physical promotional material that would otherwise be reserved for high-profile musicians, such as CD & cassette mixtapes, advertising campaigns, merchandise and personal brand design services - all at no cost to the artist.
