From when I was born to when I write this sentence, I have lived, learned, worked and played, all in Western Sydney. In response to a University brief of having to create an artistic piece that reflects my identity as a young Australian with hopes of entering the creative industry, this self-portrait takes a literal approach to the saying ‘you are a product of your environment’.

Serving as an X-Ray, my skeleton is made up of all the things I relate to the West and find a sense of home in, good or bad. If you’re from Western Sydney, then I’m sure you can find a piece of yourself in here too.

I acknlowedge the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation as the traditional custodians of the stolen land on which I live, work and play, passing this respect on to traditional Aboriginal elders past, present and emerging. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land. Sovereignty was never ceded
